Robert D. Hudson,
Director of Church Music
      






Educated in Alabama and Boston, Robert spent most of his teaching years in the state of Maine at all levels of public and private schools.  For several years, he was the Executive Director of FORUM-A, a regional arts council in association with the Univeristy of Maine at Augusta.  Concurrently  he was the Business Manager/Music Director of the Theater at Monmouth, a professional Shakespeare theater.  Between 1966 and 1982, he served as adjudicator of state band contests and as conductor of several youth orchestras.

At the University of Maine at Augusta he taught nine years as Assistant Professor of Music.  He developed the UMA Community Orchestra (which later became the Augusta Symphony Orchestra), Chorus, Band, Youth Orchestra, Ragtime Ensemble and Brass Ensemble. 

 In 1982 he formed and conducted for five years the Magic City Community Orchestra in Birmingham, Alabama.

 He came to Hendersonville in 1990, accepting a teaching assignment as string/orchestra teacher for the county schools.  Then he developed the Hendersonville School of Music which sponsored and presented SUNDAY CONCERTS over the course of nine years.

Currently he is the Leader of The Early Music Ensemble of Hendersonville and performs with The Hendersonville Community Band. He was the Music Director/Conductor of the Hendersonville Chorale for four years.  Mr. Hudson is involved in many places in the music scene in Henderson and Buncombe counties.  In addition to teaching private lessons he leads congregational singing as well as the Providence Ensemble and the Providence Brass.

Annette Brown Hudson,
Church Accompanist







After growing up in Dallas, North Carolina, Annette earned a Bachelor of Music from Appalachian State University and a Master of Music Education from Western Carolina University.  She is a retired  music specialist with the Henderson County Public Schools. 
 

She sings in the Carolina Concert Choir and plays viola in the Blue Ridge Orchestra.  Annette also was the chair person of the Site Committee when Providence purchased their current  ministry site on Oakland Street.
